The new Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration is now open. 


Located at 400 North Court Street in downtown Montgomery, the Legacy Museum provides a comprehensive history of the U.S. with a focus on the legacy of slavery. Situated on a site where enslaved Black people were forced to labor in bondage, the museum offers an immersive experience with cutting-edge technology, world-class art, and critically important scholarship about American history.

Timed entry tickets are required for the Museum. To make sure you’re able to experience both the Museum and Memorial on your preferred days, we suggest purchasing tickets online in advance of your visit.

Accessibility

Ticket Policies

We encourage you to buy your tickets in advance online.  Please note that entry to the Legacy Museum is by timed entry ticket.  A few tickets will be sold at the ticket office in the Legacy Museum day of for entry on a first come, first served basis.  We do not offer refunds.

It is a short 20-minute walk through historic Montgomery from the museum to the memorial. Free shuttles between the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice run at 10-minute intervals every day except Monday and Tuesday.
